Is Global Warming Real?

Sitting in my chair, I have a clear line of sight to the back yard. As I gaze through the windows, I am reminded of God’s continuing grace in my life. The pine trees still have some color and the squirrels are bouncing off their limbs. As they pounce from limb to limb, the snow falls from the trees softly to the ground. Also, the birds are in our backyard by the feeder eating some bird seed that Cindy (my wife) generously gave them yesterday. How are these pictures of nature a reminder of God’s grace?

The Lord reminded me of a great truth this week. I was reading Genesis 8:23, “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” The debate may linger whether global warming is reality or fiction. The pundits may eloquently debate the economic forecast for this great nation. Politicians may even share their great strategy for healing whatever doomsday rhetoric is being proposed by their party. When I listen to these people of influence, I try to always remember the person who has done more for me than anyone else. His name is Jesus Christ. And I know whatever happens to me, my family, our church, and this country in 2018 will be filtered through the divine will of God. And Jesus will be with me every step of the way (Heb.13:5).

So, what is the will of God concerning global warming? The answer is simple. Global warming is a prophetic reality!! Please understand when God shares that an event is going to happen, we can believe it. The Lord has never been wrong when telling us the future. His track record is perfect!  It just won’t happen in the manner many scientists are leading us to believe. In our text, Genesis 8:23, God has promised the seasons will be here until Jesus comes back to claim His bride (Read 1 Cor. 15:51-58 & 1 Thess. 4:13-18). The seasons will remain, the harvest will remain, the day/night schedule will remain until God claims the bride (the church) for His Son (the Groom). Shortly after the bride is taken from this world, there will be a time of judgment. Then the Lord will create a new heaven and earth. You may ask, “What will happen to this earth?” This earth will be purged by fire, (global warming indeed) and the Lord will make a new earth (2 Peter 3), a world reserved for all who place their faith in God’s son.

God’s Word is so encouraging to me. It reminds me of an old saying a preacher friend shared years ago. He said, “This is the worst it gets for the Christian, and it is the best it gets for the unbeliever.” As we consider the year 2018, the future looks awesome for those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ. I hope that is you! May I ask you a personal question: have you been adopted into God’s great family (Romans 8, 1 John 5:11)? If you are confident that you are a Christian, then we can encourage each other as we stand on the promises of God’s eternal Word. We have a bright future together! Maybe you are reading this blog and aren’t sure you are a Christian. Let me encourage you to read the Gospel of John and ask God to reveal His love to you. Ask God to show you He is the God of the Bible. Ask God if you can join His family. Of course, I and our church family are always here to help if you have any questions. I hope you enjoy a great, grace-filled year. Thank-you for taking the time to read this short blog.
